PURPOSE : To monitor the level of optical input to an optical monitoring section through an optical monitor disposed on the output side thereof by operating the optical monitoring section with constant gain through a constant gain operating section. CONSTITUTION : A rate earth-doped fiber 15-1 amplifiers as input signal light with a specific amplification factor based on a pumping light from a pumping section 26. A rare earth-doped fiber 15-2 amplifiers an input signal light based on a pumping light from a pumping section 34. In the doped fiber 15-1 operating with constant gain the through the pumping section 26, a low level monitor 33 can monitor the input to the doped fiber 15-1 with high sensitivity by amplifying the signal light to a lever being monitored easily. When a high level monitor 24 is employed together, the input signal light can be monitored over a wide range. |
