FIELD : catalyst preparation.
SUBSTANCE : invention relates to catalysts, which can be used in a variety of heterogeneous catalytic processes. Invention provides carrier containing alumina-based ceramic matrix and material dispersed throughout the matrix, said dispersed material being transition and/or rare-earth metal oxides, or mixture thereof, and/or metals, and/or alloys thereof, or period 4 metal carbides, or mixtures thereof in the form of particles or particle aggregates 1 to 250 μm in size. Carrier has a system of parallel and/or crossing channels. Carrier preparation method comprises providing homogenous mass containing caking ceramic matrix material and dispersed material, molding mass into desired shape, and thermally treating molded mass at temperature sufficient for caking of matrix material. Ceramic matrix material utilized is a powder containing metallic aluminum or powder based on aluminum oxide or hydroxide including metallic aluminum. Above homogenous mass is used to impregnate fibrous and/or woven materials forming on caking a system of parallel and/or perpendicularly crossing channels. Before heat treatment, molded mass is pretreated under hydrothermal conditions.
