PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a rare earth-loaded fiber which is excellent in excitation efficiency and capable of reducing an optical fiber laser in size, and to provide the optical fiber laser using the same.
SOLUTION : The rare earth-loaded fiber 10 is equipped with a central core 11 and outer cores 12 which are formed of quartz glass loaded with rare earth elements, an inner clad 13 which is provided around the circumference of the central core 11 and the outer cores 12 and formed of material which has a lower refractive index than the cores 11 and 12, and an outer clad 14 which is provided around the circumference of the inner clad 13 and has a lower refractive index than the inner clad 13. The center core 11 and at least, one of the outer cores 12 are arranged in a region which is distant from the center of the rare earth-loaded fiber 10 by a distance 0.71 times or above as long as the radius of the inner clad 13. The optical fiber laser using the rare earth-loaded fiber 10 is provided. |
