PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To simultaneously realize the improvement of the productive efficiency owing to the recovery of chlorine from impurity chloride by-produced by the chlorination reaction of titanium ore and the increase in the recovery rate of titanium tetrachloride, the reduction in waste, and the exploitation of resources by the regeneration and recovery of unused rare metal scrap in the production of titanium tetrachloride by the chlorination reaction of titanium ore.
SOLUTION : In the process of producing titanium tetrachloride by reacting titanium ore and coke in a gaseous chlorine atmosphere, the by-produced impurity chloride of metal other than titanium is brought into contact and made to react with rare metal or a rare metal compound at a high temperature to produce and recover rare metal chloride. |
