PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To produce the as-grown single crystal of an alkaline earth metal fluoride such as calcium fluoride and the like having sufficiently small transmittance with visible light, having no cloudiness at a peripheral wall surface when the single crystal having a diameter at its cylindrical body of 17 cm or more is produced by a single crystal pulling method.
SOLUTION : The as-grown single crystal of the alkaline earth metal fluoride such as calcium fluoride and the like having the diameter at its cylindrical body of 17 cm or more, preferably having the length at its cylindrical body of 5 cm or more, having the light transmittance of 80% or more measured at the wavelength of 632.8 nm, preferably being 90-98% and having the main crystal growing surface of {111}plane or {100}plane is produced by the single crystal pulling method. |
