PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide : a flat nonaqueous electrolyte secondary battery which can achieve good charge and discharge cycles even with an increased charging voltage of a positive electrode; and a battery pack.
SOLUTION : A flat nonaqueous electrolyte secondary battery according to an aspect of the present invention comprises : an electrode body (13) having a structure which includes a positive electrode plate (16) with a positive electrode mixture layer formed thereon and including a positive electrode active material capable of reversibly occluding and releasing lithium, and a negative electrode plate (17), and in which the positive electrode plate (16) and the negative electrode plate (17) are laminated on each other through a separator (18); and a nonaqueous electrolyte solution. On a surface of the positive electrode active material, a compound of at least one kind of metal selected from Al, Mg, Ti, Zr, W and a rare earth element is deposited. To the flat nonaqueous electrolyte secondary battery, a pressure is applied from outside in a lamination direction of the positive electrode plate (16), the negative electrode plate (17) and the separator (18).
