PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a detection method and a detection device for easily detecting a very small amount of harmful chemical compound such as an agricultural chemical mixed into a food.
SOLUTION : The chemical compound detection method according to the present embodiment includes : an extraction step of extracting a chemical compound having phosphor-oxygen double bond, sulfur-oxygen double bond, carbon-oxygen double bond or an unshared electron pair of nitrogen atoms that are included in a test object; a reaction step of bringing the chemical compound extracted in the extraction step into contact with rare earth ions constituting a rare earth complex and causing it to react with the rare earth ions; and a detection step of detecting transition of one of light emission intensity, light emission lifetime, and light emission spectral shape caused in the reaction step, and thereby detecting the chemical compound.
