PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a method of manufacturing rare earth magnet by conducting hot upset processing on a sintered body, which can manufacture rare earth magnet having a coercive force distribution with a simple method without increasing the manufacturing cost.SOLUTION : In a method of making a sintered body S1 by conducting pressure molding on magnetic powder and conducting hot plastic working to manufacture rare earth magnet, the hot plastic working is hot upset processing of mounting the sintered body S1 in a molding tool M2 comprising a lower mold K5, an upper mold K4 and a side surface mold K6 and pressurizing the sintered body S1. When the hot upset processing is conducted, a convex portion S1a extending sideward is formed in advance at a place to which relatively higher coercive force is needed to be provided as compared with other sides in the sintered body S1. When the sintered body S1 is mounted in the molding tool M2, the hot upset processing is conducted while the convex portion S1a is brought into contact with the side surface mold K6 or the convex portion S1a is closer to the side surface mold K6 as compared with the other sides of the sintered body S1.SELECTED DRAWING : Figure 4 |
