Provided are a cerium-oxide-stabilized zirconium-oxide-based composition with which it is possible to form a material endowed with both exceptional electrical conductivity and mechanical properties, and a method for producing the same. The cerium-oxide-stabilized zirconium-oxide-based composition according to the present invention contains a compound represented by general formula (1) (ZrO2)1-x-a(CeO2)x(M2O3)a and alumina. In formula (1), the value of x is 0.05 ≤ x ≤ 0.12, the value of a is 0.01 ≤ a ≤ 0.03, M is at least one type of rare earth element other than cerium, and the alumina content is 1 mol% or less relative to the aforementioned compound. |
