An oxide superconducting wire according to the present invention comprises : a substrate having a main surface; a superconducting layer provided above the substrate and composed of a rare-earth high-temperature superconductor; and a protective layer provided on the superconducting layer so as to be in contact with the superconducting layer. The superconducting layer contains a-axis aligned grains having an a-axis aligned in a direction perpendicular to the main surface of the substrate. An a-axis aligned grain ratio expressing the proportion of the a-axis aligned grains to all crystal grains constituting the superconducting layer is in the range of 4.1-11.9%. |
