PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a catalytic electrode exhibiting high performance in producing hydrogen from an aqueous solution comprising sulfide ions as well as noticeably suppressing the desorption of catalyst components from the metal substrate, and an apparatus and a method for stably producing hydrogen with a high efficiency using the catalytic electrode.SOLUTION : A catalytic electrode for producing hydrogen according to the present invention comprises : a metal substrate, a rare metal oxide or a base metal oxide, a composite semiconductor metal compound catalyst, and a cocatalyst. The rare metal oxide or the base metal oxide, the composite semiconductor metal compound catalyst, and the cocatalyst form a catalyst layer on the metal substrate. The rare metal oxide or the base metal oxide covers one surface of the metal substrate insularly in the catalyst layer. The composite semiconductor metal compound catalyst is in contact with both the metal substrate and the rare metal oxide or the base metal oxide in the catalyst layer. The cocatalyst covers the rare metal oxide or the base metal oxide and the composite semiconductor metal compound catalyst in the catalyst layer.SELECTED DRAWING : None |
